Biography

after an initial career in hospitality management, followed by full-time management studies, I worked for an industrial training board in trainer training and management training and development. During this period, I was actively engaged and took a lead role in promoting union policy on workplace employee development. I then was employment and training coordinator for a large, black community led urban regeneration project, before working in academia for 30 years until 2016. My final post was Reader in Management at the University of Roehampton. My first degree was in Philosophy at University of Nottingham; I gained a MPhil from Lancaster University, and a PhD from London University's Institute of Education (now part of University College London). My main research areas relate to issues of learning in relation to higher education, and to management education, training and development. I draw upon critical realist metatheory, particularly focusing on issues of identity and practices. More recently I have been working a new framework for exploring corporate wrongdoing and societal scandals, particularly focussing on the Post Office Horizon scandal, and that of the Magdalene Laundries and Mother-and-Baby Homes in Ireland.
