Biography

As an experienced business professor with over 20 years of ownership expertise, I am committed to continuous learning and engagement in the field. My extensive professional development includes attending numerous conferences, workshops, and training sessions in areas such as entrepreneurship, management, research, and education. I have impressive experience in entrepreneurship, teaching, and consulting, having developed courses and programs in entrepreneurship and worked with a diverse range of clients, including veterinary medicine businesses, startups, and large organizations. I am a Doctor of Entrepreneurship (PhD, St Andrews) and hold an MBA, as well as other relevant certifications, with a decade of global teaching experience and program development at all levels of higher education. My practical approach to the realities of business ownership is exemplified in the roles as Director of the Hostetter Centre, Visiting Researcher, and Visiting Lecturer. I have achieved facilitating a $200,000 Grant Thornton Corporate Agreement, designing Entrepreneurship Major, co-redesigning Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, and being the winner of the Textbook Champion, Open Education Resource Development Program. As a fifth-generation entrepreneur owning multiple businesses over 20 years, I bring a unique perspective to the field, with a focus on business succession, entrepreneurship, and open educational resources. I have been interviewed by various media outlets and have spoken at numerous conferences, and have conducted presentations and outreach programs on business development, small business management, and leadership. In my current role as Senior Lecturer of Entrepreneurship and Sustainability, I am committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of business leaders. I am passionate about creating innovative and engaging learning experiences that prepare students for success in the dynamic and ever-changing world of business. I lead the Hostetter Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Development at the University of Prince Edward Island and have received several awards for my work, including the James M. Flaherty Scholarship Award.
