Biography

Sophia Essahmed is a PhD candidate at the School of Business & Entrepreneurship, American University of Nigeria, with a professional background spanning entrepreneurship education, educational leadership, human resource management, social entrepreneurship and community development. Her doctoral research focuses on entrepreneurship education policy, informal urban entrepreneurship and inclusive economic development, with particular attention to how entrepreneurship education and support systems can better respond to informal-sector realities and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth. Alongside her academic work, she founded The Sophia Essahmed Foundation, through which she has led community-based initiatives in skills development, financial inclusion, education, and livelihood support, particularly for underserved communities in Northern Nigeria. Her work bridges academic research and practice through entrepreneurship development, stakeholder engagement and social-impact programming. She has also contributed to international development and civil-society platforms and has presented research on entrepreneurship education and sustainable development at academic conferences and scholarly forums.
