Abstract:

This research focuses on immigrant entrepreneurship, emphasizing the significant role that immigrant graduates, as a crucial segment of immigrant groups, play in entrepreneurship. This is in the context of the rising number of immigrant graduates. There exists a research gap in scholarly understanding of immigrant graduates' entrepreneurship within the university entrepreneurial ecosystems. Employing embeddedness theory, this investigation seeks to elucidate the mechanisms through which university ecosystems facilitate the immigrant graduates’ entrepreneurship, taking into account an interplay of individual characteristics and contextual dynamics, including the nuanced role of cultural proximity. Leveraging data from the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) and applying hierarchical regression analysis, the study aims to dissect the determinants influencing immigrant graduates' entrepreneurial pursuits and assess the moderating influence of cultural proximity. This scholarly endeavor contributes novel insights into the interrelations between immigrant and graduate entrepreneurship within the ambit of university entrepreneurial ecosystems, enriching the academic discourse.
