Abstract:

This study examines generational differences in job satisfaction between Generation Z and Millennials within Vietnam’s skilled workforce. Using a survey of 455 participants and hierarchical regression analysis, the research identifies key factors influencing job satisfaction for each generational cohort. For Millennials, career advancement opportunities enhance satisfaction, while education level, salary, and work experience have a negative impact. In contrast, Generation Z’s job satisfaction is positively influenced by career advancement opportunities and job benefits, with salary and education level showing no significant effect. The findings reveal that Generation Z values personal development and work-life balance more than financial compensation. This study makes a significant theoretical contribution as the first to explore generational differences in job satisfaction within the context of Vietnam’s emerging economy. Practically, it offers actionable strategies for employers to optimize engagement and retention efforts tailored to the unique needs of different generational cohorts, particularly in rapidly developing markets.
