Abstract:

Organisations face immense pressure to foster workplace innovation and discovering novel approaches to stimulate creativity. The primary source of innovation within organisations is workers' innovative work behaviours (IWB) which is considered an “extra-role conduct of employees” (AlMulhim & Mohammed, 2023, pg 907). For employees to be innovative and productive, leaders are considered instrumental in providing a supportive organisational work environment (Ibid). Inclusive leadership creates an environment where individuals feel valued, empowered, and are encouraged to contribute their unique insights and skills towards the common goals of the organisation thus profoundly impacting IWB (Shafaei & Nejati, 2023). Leaders can foster a balanced and mutually advantageous exchange relationship with their subordinates by offering them resources, trust, and support (Hudie et al, 2017).

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the beneficial impacts of inclusive leadership on employees' creative behaviour (Zeng et al, 2020). In doing so, it explores the predictive role of inclusive leadership (IL) on innovative work behaviour (IWB). Additionally, it investigates the mediating influence of psychological empowerment in the relationship between IL and IWB. Moreover, this study also endeavours to incorporate organisational climate for innovation as a moderator between IL and IWB. Data was gathered from employees in the telecommunications sector in the emerging economy Pakistan through a survey utilising a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed, yielding 411 responses from the participants. To analyse the responses, SPSS and AMOS were used. The results reveal that IL has a significant positive influence on IWB. The mediating role of psychological empowerment between IL and IWB is also confirmed. The result suggests that the relationship between IL and IWB strengthens when moderated by an organisational climate for innovation.
