Abstract:

In today's dynamic landscape it is crucial for academics and professionals to understand the processes that organisations adopt to learn from crises and navigate through future crises, and thereby facilitate growth. The importance of learning processes that increase an organisation’s capacity to handle crises is well documented (Orth and Schuldis, 2021).

Hence, it is of paramount importance to analyse these processes and understand their role in increasing an organisation's capacity for efficacious crisis management. Notwithstanding its significance, this topic has not yet been subject to a comprehensive review that could synthesise the diverse arguments and confounding evidence of this body of knowledge.

Our research focuses on organisational learning before, during, and after crisis. In doing so, we have conducted a systematic literature review that aims to cast light on organisational learning in contexts of crisis. Adopting the rigorous PRISMA-P (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols) 2015 principles (Moher et al., 2015), our aims are to bring forth the dialogue on this pressing topic, map the existing empirical work, identify gaps and propose avenues for future research in this intriguing area of research.
