Biography

Dr Zedias Mutema is a senior academic at the Business School in Bangor University, Wales. His work experiences are deeply rooted in academics and consultancy across Zimbabwe and the UK. Mutema's key research examines human resource management, organisational behaviour and employment relations in particular, employee voice in sub-Saharan Africa. He is particularly interested in African labour history and contemporary Sub-Saharan African Employment relations, the domestication of ILO and other international conventions and standards on employment in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has authored articles which have appeared in highly rated international journal outlets. Zedias is interested in listening to research ideas/proposals from potential PhD applicants seeking to research on: • HRM practices and strategies of Multinational Corporations in developing countries. • Tripartite consultation systems and the role of negotiation and social dialogue in managing workplace disputes and improving organisational performance. • Dynamics of trade union-political-party alliances and their impact on Employee engagement • Trade union-renewal strategies and their impact on productivity with an emphasis on Sub Saharan Africa. • Trade unionism and larger questions of political economy
