Carol Webb holds a PhD from Cranfield University, where she applied complexity science to organisational sense-making and learning, and brings over 13 years of experience in Higher Education as a researcher, lecturer and senior lecturer in strategic management, change, learning and education, complex systems and innovation. She has since spent six years in the UK Civil Service, including roles in the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Defence, where she works on high‑risk defence innovation portfolios and technology pathways. At the British Academy of Management conference, she aims to present two papers examining UK defence technology innovation and the role of SMEs within defence supply chains, drawing together her academic background and government practice.
