Dr Susan Akinwalere is a Senior Lecturer with a doctorate in Business and Management. She teaches strategy and leadership, with over 10 years’ experience in academia and diverse international and reputable institutions. She is trained as a theoretical business researcher and is guided by formal rigorous methodologies to broaden her knowledge. Her principal interest in business management arises from the belief that it provides the opportunity to contribute to social and economic change. Dr Akinwalere has published peer reviewed journal articles in top tier journals and has presented research papers at conferences. She is convinced that the challenges of the business environment are best addressed from as wide a variety of angles as possible. As a result, she seeks to share and examine the understanding she gains from academic research by thoroughly exploring the questions and challenges that arise at the intersection of research and the classroom at any given opportunity. Dr Akinwalere is also an active member of the Centre for Innovation, Management and Enterprises (CIME) research team and since joining UEL in 2022, she has won the research ‘SEED Funding’ on two consecutive occasions (2023 and 2024). Partaking of the SEED funding initiative has resulted in positive outcomes for UEL, as both students (particularly the cohorts of MBA students) and colleagues benefit from her experience, teaching, and research. Dr Akinwalere is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an editor and a reviewer for reputable journals including the Journal of Business and Economic Development, British Academy of Management (BAM), the International Journal of Private Higher Education amongst others.
