Biography

Isabel Metz is a Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne. Isabel Metz has a Bachelor of Science, with majors in Computer Science and Mathematics, and a Ph.D. in Management. Before academia, Isabel spent more than a decade in Australian banking in a range of IT, marketing, change management and operations management positions. As a past senior manager in corporate, Isabel is acutely aware of the need to work with practitioners to study organisational phenomena that are relevant and of consequence in the quest for effective people management. Broadly, her groundbreaking research aims to assist organisations effectively manage talent and employment relationships, and assist individuals competently manage their careers. More specifically, her research focuses on diversity, inclusion and exclusion in the workplace, change, multiculturalism, and allyship. She regularly provides media commentaries and speaks at industry forums, publishes in leading academic journals, and has won prizes for my research papers at conferences. Isabel is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a member of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management, British Academy of Management, and of the (U.S.) Academy of Management. Isabel served on the (U.S.) Academy of Management’s Board of Governors from 2019 to 2022. She is currently on the editorial board of several academic journals.
