Abstract
This submission is an overview of an ongoing research project exploring how creative workers are utilising Artificial Intelligence to support their creative work. The study is taking place in China and explores those who are involved in creating content for nationally significant media platforms. The empirical work is due to be completed in early Spring with analysis completed before July 2026. We are seeking to gain developmental feedback on the significance of research themes arising from the study, as we explore two potential contributions to understanding the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and creative work within the cultural industries. The first being the lived experiences of creative workers as they navigate the paradox of using and collaborating with technologies that may replace their roles, and the second being the cognitive practices used when engaging with Artificial Intelligence – and how this influences creative outputs.
