Abstract
This study explores how entrepreneurs with disabilities (EwDs) navigate the intersections of their entrepreneurial and disability identities. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with 30 EwDs across India and employing an identity-sensemaking lens, we find that EwDs constantly negotiate between strategically deploying their disability identity and confronting an attributed identity imposed by society. This tension highlights a complex interplay between individual agency and societal constraints. Moreover, the study reveals that the entrepreneurial identity acts as a catalyst for emancipation, for both the self and the wider community, suggesting that identity intersections can fundamentally mitigate or transform EwDs' outlooks and actions.
