Abstract
This paper explores and provides insights into female entrepreneurship in West Africa during the post- COVID-19 pandemic recovery phase. It expounds on the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs and the opportunities to exploit as West African countries navigate the economic aftermath of the pandemic. The narrative further highlights the historical and pre-existing cultural, religious, social and economic factors that have influenced female entrepreneurship in West Africa before the COVID-19 pandemic. The study uncovers the pandemic impact on female owned businesses and the potential adaptive strategies adopted to deal with the challenges. The chapter ends by highlighting the role of governmental and institutional support, emerging market possibilities, challenges in the recovery phase, and possible research areas to further advance understanding of female entrepreneurship in this context.
