Abstract
Drawing on the resource-based view (RBV) and resource orchestration (RO), this study examines how a firm’s Performance Management System (PMS) influences its performance whilst facilitating resource orchestration processes aimed at achieving organizational ambidexterity. Using survey data from 268 Egyptian firms and PLS-SEM, the results indicate that resource orchestration and organizational ambidexterity fully mediate the effect of PMS on firm performance. Additionally, organizational ambidexterity fully mediates the influence of resource orchestration processes on firm performance. This study contributes to strategic management literature by highlighting the interdependence between RBV and RO and emphasizing the significance of PMS as a strategic resource, alongside resource orchestration, to support firm strategy and achieve superior performance.
