Abstract
The reasons for project failure have long been understood and evidenced. Project management has rapidly evolved as has technology to support it. None of these have significantly impacted global project performance. The impact of organisational landscapes around projects has only relatively recently been well recognised, but despite a rapidly growing project economy, organisations in which projects and their teams can thrive are rare. This paper is intended to examine why this might be so and what can be done to (re)build organisations that can, as per a recent book title, be powered by projects (Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez)
