Abstract
In today's globalized world, organizations face new challenges in preventing and mitigating environmental degradation. In response to these environmental challenges, there has been an increasing recognition of the crucial role of ethical leadership within organizations. Ethical leaders can play a significant role in positively influencing and shaping employees’ behaviours and attitudes in a manner that aligns with environmental conscious standards. Thus, this paper aims to examine the influence of ethical leadership (EL) on green innovative work behaviour (GIWB) through the mechanism of intrinsic motivation and the moderated mediation role of educational level, among employees working in the UK retail sector. The study seeks to investigate these hypothesised correlations drawing on the social exchange theory (SET) and Self-determination theory (SDT). Further, the research adopts a quantitative, cross-sectional research method using questionnaire to collect data from managers and operational employees through a convenience sampling technique.
