Abstract
In the current political environment, particularly in the USA, corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be undermined. To mitigate this possibility, research can enhance our understanding of factors that can strengthen CSR. Given the critical role of corporate leaders, such as CEOs, it is important to further our understanding of what drives them to engage with CSR. To this end, this review, once fully developed, will offer an overarching conceptual framework and a future research agenda to consolidate existing knowledge and identify new avenues to enhance our understanding of CEO traits and motivations that support CSR.
