Abstract
Inter-organisational projects bring together multiple autonomous organisations in temporary settings, making collaboration critical yet difficult to sustain. At the same time, digitalisation has become increasingly embedded in project environments, reshaping how work is organised, although its implementation often falls short of expectations. Collaboration and digitalisation do not operate independently, as digitalisation reconfigures collaborative practices through digital technologies and collaborative conditions shape how digitalisation is enacted. Drawing on a sociotechnical systems theory perspective, it conceptualises projects as sociotechnical systems in which collaboration and digitalisation interact dynamically over time. A qualitative case study is employed to explore this evolving process in a real-world project context.
