Abstract
Existing studies of dynamic service innovation capability are divergent, because of the different approaches of service innovation. This study adopted an integrative approach. Although existing studies of dynamic service innovation capability have reflected what service innovation studies achieved, they have insufficiently explained the different modes of service innovation. The different features of dynamic service innovation capability are not fully captured. Thus, this study investigated different dynamic service innovation capabilities in a knowledge intensive business service (KIBS) firm in terms of the newness of service innovation tasks. This study selected KL-Net as a KIBS firm. KL-Net conducted the five service innovation tasks of integrated Port-MIS, which is the public service owned by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in South Korea. It identified, according to the newness of service innovation tasks, the different combination degrees of learning about new knowledge of service and stakeholders, with the utilization of existing knowledge of service and stakeholders, consequently featuring different dynamic service innovation capabilities in KIBS firm.
