Abstract
Student motivation plays a key role in student experience and student success, however, unsatisfied student expectation can negatively affect student motivation. More research is needed to apprehend international Postgraduate taught (PGT) students’ expectation and motivation of the UK Higher Education and how these can be better managed by their institutions. This research aims to explore the factors related to international PGT students’ expectation and motivation of studying at a UK business school, and how these factors evolve through the learning journey. To achieve the research aims, mixed methods will be adopted with primary and secondary research, qualitative and quantitative analysis. The primary research includes pilot study, interviews and surveys with international PGT students at several UK Business Schools. The research will contribute to existing knowledge on student motivation and help inform an inclusive and sustainable business school provision by better motivating international PGT students at key stages of their learning.
