Abstract
The purpose of this research is to identify and categorise the key challenges facing credit risk management in Jordanian commercial banks. A qualitative research approach was adopted to achieve this, using a systematic literature review and a focus group session with credit risk experts in Jordan. A total of 20 credit risk management challenges were identified and classified under four categories: regulatory challenges, operational challenges, technological challenges, and economic challenges. This research significantly contributes to the knowledge base by identifying key challenges associated with credit risk management in Jordanian commercial banks. The findings offer practical implications for academia, policy makers, and decision-makers, providing a deeper understanding of challenges within Jordanian commercial banks' credit risk management. Additionally, it provides valuable insights into the current credit risk management landscape in developing nations like Jordan.
