Design/methodology/approach
This feminist enquiry contextualises and accounts for how Islamic influence can capture and examine the multifaceted ways in which Islam shapes women’s entrepreneurial ethos. By weaving together the threads of feminism and Islam, this paper unravels the multifaceted dimensions of empowerment that emerge within this unique context through a conceptualised methodological framework.
Purpose
Exploring the intricate interplay between feminist inquiry and the influence of Islam on women’s entrepreneurial pursuits, this paper conceptualises feminist and Islamic influences as a methodological perspective. By examining the nexus of feminism and Islam within entrepreneurship, a feminist Islamic inquiry contributes to a more nuanced understanding of empowerment, agency, and identity in women-led businesses.
Findings
Through a feminist lens informed by Islamic principles, the study explores the synergy between faith and entrepreneurship within the journeys of Muslim women. The proposed SSS methodological framework uncovers how Islamic values intersect with business practices, emphasising resilience, adaptability, and negotiation. Additionally, it sheds light on how women entrepreneurs reinterpret their roles and balance tradition and innovation in light of their faith.
