Abstract
Through an embedded case study of the regional food and beverage sector in Auckland, New Zealand, we explore how interactions shape regional innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems (I&EE) and how these dynamics contribute to their transformation. While previous research has focused on identifying the actors, institutions, and artifacts that make up I&EEs, less attention has been paid to the dynamics of interactions between these actors and how they contribute to the co-evolution and transformation of I&EEs. We draw on practice-based institutionalism to theorize the interplay between an I&EE's structural conditions and social interactions. The findings will contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms that shape interactions in an I&EE and their positive or negative consequences on an I&EE's evolution and trajectory.
