Abstract
Facilities Management includes the service and use phase of the full life cycle of assets of a variety of building types. Sustainability is an increasingly critical business driver for Facilities Management. Therefore, the cost estimation of the value of the impact of sustainability drivers on facilities management contracts is now critical to improve. This research uses a state-of-the-art literature review to develop a novel cost estimating methodology including machine learning methods and secondary data in the public domain related to facilities management assets. The development of the methodology and its validation is informed through an exploratory case study with a Facilities Management company. The findings are used to inform further work in development of novel sustainability cost estimating methods.
