Abstract
This research explores the impact of PMSs upon human resources management (HRM) effectiveness within medium-sized enterprises (MSEs) in the UK. While using resource-based view (RBV) as the theoretical perspective, this research investigates how performance appraisal systems, training and development opportunities, feedback mechanisms, and employee engagement strategies collectively influence HRM outcomes. Through a quantitative methodology, data was collected from various respondents across UK MSEs using a structured questionnaire. The findings reveal that each performance management strategy significantly contributes to HRM effectiveness, with employee engagement strategies showing the most substantial impact. The study highlights the importance of integrating various performance management practices to enhance HRM effectiveness in MSEs, offering valuable insights for both academic research and practical application. This research enhances the current knowledge by comprehensively understanding PMSs its connection with HRM effectiveness in UK MSEs, addressing a notable gap in the literature.
