Abstract
The Northwest City Region of Ireland has emerged as a potential fintech hub, benefiting from its strategic location, skilled workforce, and growing digital infrastructure. However, the extent of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among fintech firms in the region remains unclear, raising questions about the strength of inter-firm linkages and the barriers to integration within the ecosystem. This study aims to map the fintech firms in the Northwest City Region and analyze their connectivity, collaboration patterns, and ecosystem integration. A mixed-method approach is employed, combining semi-structured interviews with fintech firms, and a quantitative assessment of relationship strength across four key dimensions is performed i.e. Intensity, Importance, Involvement, and Investment (Hobbs et al., 2010) using the triple helix model. Multinational companies (MNCs) from local fintech firms, highlighting variations in collaboration intensity. The study identifies gaps in industry peer linkages, limited government-academic collaborations, and a fragmented support system for fintech startups.
