Abstract
Purpose: This study attempts to determine how Assistive Technology AT helps People with Disabilities (PWD) to turn into assets, which helps the organization to outperform using VRIO framework analysis.
Methodology: The study follows PRISMA recommendations for paper selection, and seventy-nine documents were obtained between1990 and 2024. The assistive technologies were identified and analysed through a systematic review.
Findings: The study finds assistive technologies available according to types of disabilities; in this study, disabilities are categorized into four major types, i.e., visual, hearing, physical, and cognitive impairments. The VRIO framework, exhibits the employment of PWD and assists them with appropriate technology; they can be categorized as valuable, rare, and costly to imitate if the organization knows how to channel the skills and capabilities of PWD properly.
Originality: This study has used the unique VRIO framework to gain a competitive advantage against organizations that are not using assistive technology for disabled employees.
Implication: This study will help policymakers make policies, strategies, and action plans to disseminate awareness regarding AT to PWD and top management to increase PWD's competitiveness.
