Abstract
Generation Z is the generational cohort that has been getting a lot of attention lately. This tech-savvy generation enters organisations with its unique set of attributes, preferences, and fresh ideas. While Gen Z plans to stay in an organisation for less than a year as they tend to switch organisations in search of new experiences and this gives management a hard time. Organisations are expanding their horizons, crossing borders, and exploring new opportunities to retain talented Gen Z professionals. Several studies have been conducted to determine the factors that can enhance their satisfaction at work. However, this study focuses on the dealbreakers for Gen Z professionals at work so that organisations can manage these dealbreakers to retain employees and reduce attrition. An exploratory qualitative approach has been followed where interviews and focus group discussions have been conducted to collect invaluable insights from 22 working professionals about the Gen Z dynamics at work. The impact of identified dealbreakers can be further studied on the organisation-related, job-related, and individual-related outcomes in the workplace. The measures have been suggested to assist the management in managing the dealbreakers to reduce turnover and encourage a progressing and prosperous organisational environment.
