Abstract
In an increasingly globalised digital economy, Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) offer a promising solution for enhancing cross-border e-commerce experiences. This paper explores the optimisation of PWA offline capabilities to mitigate connectivity barriers that impact international consumers, particularly in regions with unstable internet access. By integrating service workers, caching strategies, and offline-first architectures, PWAs can improve accessibility, performance, and reliability. Through an analysis of international business complexities—such as cultural, linguistic, economic, and technological factors—this paper examines how enhanced PWA offline functionality can foster seamless digital commerce across borders. Additionally, it discusses the role of optimised PWAs in supporting multinational enterprises (MNEs) navigating diverse regulatory and infrastructural landscapes. The findings underscore the necessity for strategic PWA adoption to enhance international competitiveness and user engagement in global markets.
