Abstract
This paper explores the impact of formal education on environmental sustainability in the context of higher education students' green consumption behavior worldwide. Data was collected from both literature, and students through a questionnaire survey using a two-phased sequential approach. Our initial review revealed a significant gap; there is no definitive evidence showing how formal education impacts the green consumption and purchasing choices of higher education students. As a result, these students’ green consumption behaviors are complex and multifaceted, even though education on environmental sustainability does play an important role. To address this gap, we intend to expand our data globally, aiming to assess the extent of how environmental sustainability education shapes students’ green consumption and purchasing behaviors.
