Abstract
Green entrepreneurship has occupied a wide space in the entrepreneurship research since the 1970s. This is due to its importance in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable environmental development, as the central aim of green entrepreneurship is to safeguard the environment from harmful impacts. Furthermore, SMEs play a significant role in the development of global economy, thus bearing great responsibility in achieving sustainable environmental development.
This study adopts the PRISMA protocol for reviewing papers published in Scopus and Web of Science, addressing green entrepreneurship and published during the period from 2015 to 2023. The initial review included 542 documents; 286 were obtained from Scopus and 256 from Web of Science. However, only 54 papers met the inclusion criteria. This article highlights the role of green entrepreneurship in SMEs in achieving sustainable environmental development. However, there is a need for issuing and enforcing global laws to regulate this phenomenon.
