Abstract
This study aims to analyse, based on a microfoundational perspective, the interplay between the micro-dynamics of startup founders, the strategic decisions on their ventures, and the way they perceive that the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem and framework conditions drive or hinder the sustainability orientation of their startups. We have conducted six interviews with startup founders from three different countries at this stage. With this study, we aim to show empirical evidence about the underlying factors of startup founders (within-case analyses) and the similarities and differences (cross-case comparisons) in the sustainability orientation of startups from different contextual settings.
