Abstract
Innovation and entrepreneurship are core dynamics of economic growth and the identification of opportunities and ideation – are the triggers of these dynamics. Entrepreneurs play an important part in the formation and development of RIS. Yet, the mutual effects of entrepreneurship and the local conditions within which they act upon their subjective visions are not fully understood. In this developmental paper, I focus more specifically on the early stages of opportunity recognition and ideation processes. I review the existing literature on opportunity recognition and ideation and recreate main insights from this literature in silico. Using an agent-based social simulation , I study the impact of factors and processes of ideation on the evolution of regional innovation systems.
