Abstract
Benefits management is deeply temporal, as it is concerned with measuring the past, aligning the present and planning for the future. In this paper, we explore the temporal perspective (which encompasses temporal focus and depth) of agile frameworks and agile benefits management. In order to do so, we analysed the two most widespread agile frameworks (Scrum and SAFe) and collected empirical data (nine interviews and one focus group with four participants). Our results describe how actions and artefacts are related to temporal perspectives in agile frameworks and in the practice of benefits management. Moreover, this paper illustrates how actions related to time need to be interrelated for the success of benefits management. As such, we contribute to shed light on two underdeveloped research areas, which are benefits management and temporality in projects.
