Abstract

Initial findings indicate that the subject of technology transition has not been covered extensively in the context of delivering project output, and that further work is required to inform this research gap. The successful management and delivery of technology projects is largely driven by organisational processes and frameworks surrounding such projects particularly within project-based organizations.

This research contributes to the development of literature on the management of technology transitions through the mid-range of the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) maturity scale, specifically from a project management perspective. We contrast this view with theoretical approaches which focus on a wholistic view of managing technology.

Findings from a systematic literature review of 659 articles from notable academic databases are presented in this development paper.
