Abstract
The extant research has not substantially highlighted the potential dark side of CSR. Organizations have found that CSR disengages employees and the mechanisms, the why, how and when CSR could disengage employees is not well known. In the present paper, we suggest that CSR may actually disengage employees because of bluewashing perceptions. Specifically, the study proposes to study the influence of CSR on Indian employees working in a university and who are primarily responsible for executing mental well-being and welfare programmes for staff, faculty and students. The identification of CSR participation and bluewashing as a mechanism that may disengages employees is a unique contribution to the literature on Micro CSR.
