Abstract
Text Generation Models such as ChatGPT has recently caught spotlights attributing to its unprecedented capability of generating argumentative, verbose, and human-like text that is relevant to the user’s query. Heralded as the next disruptive innovation, ChatGPT (and any subsequent text-generating models) have significant implications in the context of higher education, especially regarding academic integrity. But the disruptive nature of the technology also brings into light the severely dynamic environment, threatening Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) in their value proposition. A luddite response is cautioned against, and this paper contributes by opening the discussion on the implication of text generation models on HEIs as a business. The recommendation is to develop frameworks to address AI in ways that is academically ground and ethically sound in augmenting it to HEI’s value proposition as a business.
