Abstract
This research combines regression and necessary condition analysis (NCA) to explore features of organisation design that are linked with higher innovation outcomes and greater revenues from innovations. Combining regression analysis and NCA assists in distinguishing between contributing and critical, or necessary, organisation design features for innovation and commercialisation. Based on publicly available data on the ‘New Modes of Innovation Survey’, our research shows that the combination of regression and NCA analyses leads to different and richer results. Combining these results offers richer insights which can support deriving informed managerial implications, guiding the design of new organisations and the re-design of existing organisations to improve innovation performance and innovation revenues.
