Abstract
The link between internationalisation and digitalisation has gained increasing attention in management research due to the transformative impact of new digital technologies on firms' competitive positioning. However, limited empirical research has examined the reserve impact of internationalisation on digitalisation. To fill this gap, this paper conducts a systematic review and analysis of 58 empirical studies published in high-quality journals from 2011 to 2023 to document the empirical findings of the link between internationalisation and digitalisation. Overall, our analysis shows that the internationalisation experiences, internationalisation orientation, and competitive pressure are main driving forces for digitalisation that are empirically documented in extant research. On the basis of this analysis, this paper offers a research agenda and managerial implications.
