Abstract
Hotel sustainability has become a topical area of study in the sustainability field. However, sustainability literature tends to provide less care on hotel guests. Combining this void in the literature with criticisms of sustainability, this paper introduces a new concept i.e. Guest sustainability. Using data from 25 in-depth interviews of senior hotel executives in Sri Lanka, we identified a new type of sustainability is emerging in the Sri Lankan hotel sector. The findings reveal economic, social and environmental sustainability initiatives among senior hoteliers in Sri Lanka. These study findings extend our understanding of hotel sustainability in Sri Lanka. Stakeholders in the hotel industry including tourist regulatory bodies may benefit from the study findings.
