Dr Kareem Sani, PhD, FHEA, is a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Wolverhampton Business School. He previously held academic positions at the University of Roehampton and the University of East London, with specialisms in teaching and research in Strategic Marketing, Global Brand Management, and Digital Marketing. He holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of East London, where his research focused on Customer Switching Behaviour in the Retail Banking Sector. He also holds an MSc in International Marketing Management from the same institution and a BSc in Marketing from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in the United Kingdom. An active researcher, Dr Kareem is committed to publishing in high-impact journals and securing research funding. His core research interests include Consumer Behaviour, Relationship Marketing, Services Marketing, SME Marketing, Social Marketing, and Sustainable Marketing. He also engages in interdisciplinary work, particularly in areas such as business strategy and human resource management. His research has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Business Research, Society & Business Review, and Management Decision. He has also contributed to edited book volumes and presented at national and international academic conferences. His current research focuses on Business Ethics, Sustainable Marketing, Brand, Branding and Consumerism within the banking industry. Dr Kareem brings over a decade of professional experience in the retail banking sector to his academic role, having spent over a decade in the retail banking industry, where he developed key leadership and strategic planning skills before transitioning to academia. He began his career as a Teller/Cashier and progressed through key operational roles, including Customer Care Officer, Fund Transfer Officer, Cash Officer/ATM Custodian, and Operations Manager. His dedication and leadership eventually led to his promotion to Branch Manager at Access Bank Nigeria Plc—a role he held until August 2018, when he left to pursue doctoral studies in the UK. His industry background has provided him with invaluable insights into real-world business challenges, shaping his approach to teaching and research. He is deeply committed to fostering inclusive learning and research environments where all individuals feel valued and supported.
