Biography

David has 32 years of industrial experience in automotive and power generation (large steam turbines) sectors including 5 years of overseas assignments (France & South Africa). Roles have been in multi-disciplinary team leadership including project management, engineering management and quality management. Notable projects have included launch of new vehicles from multiple perspectives (production supervisor, production engineer, engineering manager, project manager), turbine control system at a UK nuclear power station, return to service of a complete turbine island following a major incident in South Africa and a six unit turbine retrofit in South Africa involving transfer of technology and 1st of kind manufacture in South Africa. Other significant experiences include task force leadership (quality analysis – automotive), 8D analysis of failed project and recovery of a failing project. David moved from industry to teaching project management in 2016. David has interest in and passion for equipping the next generation of project managers, developing project management best practice to be more effective in our fast changing digital world and bridging the gap between academia and business in terms of project management.
