Abstract
This research delves into the intricate tensions that may emerge in business change project management due to ethical and sustainability considerations. Whereas conventional project success measures have prioritised cost, time, and scope, the literature has proposed that ethical considerations should also be deemed a crucial measure of project success. As such, tensions may occur between the ethical standards established within the project management context and the individual moral standards of project managers and their teams. To address these tensions, this paper proposes to examine the moral and ethical factors that influence project management and how these factors interact with project organisation, ethical guidance within the governance structure, and embedding sustainability and sustainable development. The paper aims to provide valuable insights that can add to the discourse on supporting ethical and sustainable project management practices.
