Biography

Dr Farouk Missi is a Senior Lecturer in Operation and Analytics at the University of Hertfordshire’s Business School (HBS). Dr Missi currently supervises three PhD students at HBS. He teaches postgraduate levels (Masters in Management and International Business) at HBS, where he is responsible of the delivery of two core business and management modules on Analytics for Operations and Logistics Management, and Consultancy Skills for Business Analysts. Qualifications: • BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Annaba, Algeria) • MSc in Information Engineering (Medical Informatics specialisation) (City University, London, UK) • PhD in Information Systems & Computing (Brunel University, London, UK) Since 2005, Dr Missi, has been the associate chief executive officer of Active Business Solutions UK (ABS UK). ABS UK assists its SMEs’ clients, in particular, by providing leadership for the company’s strategic direction and market penetration and playing key roles in developing new businesses and client relationships. Dr Missi has several years of Research & Development experience in the field of Information Systems (IS), strategy, implementation, evaluation and integration, with a particular research interest in Analytics, Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Dr Missi has been an investigator in several FP7 ICT, ICT-PSP and SSH and other internationally funded projects on IS implementation projects and evaluation, including LiveCity, DAREED, OASSIS and SI-DRIVE. He has published in peer reviewed articles and guest-edited special issues of leading journals and conferences on these themes. He has received numerous grants from funding bodies including EU, EPSRC, ESRC and Innovate UK.
