Abstract
This bibliometric study maps research on the impact of entrepreneurship education on students from family business backgrounds, with a particular focus on career choice intentions of students in the UAE higher education context. Drawing on publications indexed in major academic databases between 2011 and 2025, the study uses VOS viewer to conduct performance analysis and science‑mapping (co‑citation and co‑word) of research at the intersection of entrepreneurship education, family business studies, and Career outcomes in higher education settings. The analysis reveals five thematic clusters that collectively define the intellectual structure of the field. Cluster 1 (Family Business and Succession) emphasizes the intergenerational dynamics and succession challenges shaping entrepreneurial learning. Cluster 2 (Entrepreneurial Intention, Education, and Students) highlights the central role of entrepreneurship education in cultivating students’ entrepreneurial mindsets and intentions. Cluster 3 (Implications, Value, and Youth) underscores the broader social and educational implications of youth engagement in entrepreneurship and the perceived value of entrepreneurial behavior. Cluster 4 (Respondent and Importance) captures methodological patterns in how respondents’ characteristics and contextual importance influence reported outcomes. Finally, Cluster 5 (Field) reflects the interdisciplinary and evolving nature of entrepreneurship education as a research area. Together, these clusters demonstrate how family business background, educational experience, intersect to influence career choice intentions and succession outcomes. The study, by visualizing these interconnections, identifies dominant and emerging themes while calling for more contextually grounded entrepreneurship education particularly in supporting youth and family business succession within the UAE and similar environments.
