Abstract
Racially minoritised young people are underrepresented in apprenticeships in England despite government reforms, including a 2015 government agenda to increase the representation of racially minoritised individuals in apprenticeships by 20% by 2020. Research exploring (racial) diversity apprenticeships is scarce within diversity and wider management and organisational studies (Newton and Williams, 2013; Chadderton and Wischmann, 2014). Drawing on literature on discrimination (van Laer and Janssens, 2011; Ozturk and Berber, 2022; Acker, 2006, 2009), this paper makes contributions to the understanding of how a unique sub-set of the employees in the workforce experience and navigate (intersectional) race-based marginalisation.
