Abstract
This conceptual paper examines the structural mechanism that promotes or constrains latency switching in social networks. They foreground the superiority of triads as structural units of analysis that enable the study of latency switching. Attitudinal commitment stands out as the underlying mechanism that drives commitment and latency switching. The study recommends areas of future research.
