Abstract
Despite the already extensive and diverse definitions of meaningful work, we still lack a coherent understanding of how it emerges in the contemporary routines of organizational life. This paper adopts a practice-theoretical lens to conceptualize meaningful work as enacted through situated everyday doings in the tension between AI-driven optimization and creative human judgment. To support this conceptual exploration, I present an illustrative case of my ongoing doctoral research in a Finnish marketing organization. It focuses on negotiations around what is delegated to AI and what is retained as human, revealing what ultimately counts as valuable, and how thriving at work is continually reconfigured in practice.
