Abstract
The paper examined how a favourable business climate plays a vital role in the development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the United Kingdom. Based on the current academic works (2020-2025), this paper examined how regulatory environment, financial accessibility, technological infrastructure, and institutional support mechanisms affect the operation and survival of SMEs. The paper presents an argument to the effect that despite the reasonably favourable business conditions in the UK, the country has been facing several threats such as post-Brexit regulatory uncertainties, barriers to digital transformation, and financial constraints, requiring ongoing policy refinement. The results indicate that a multifaceted strategy involving regulatory liberalisation, development of digital infrastructure, better access to finance, and specific support packages is an effective proposal to promote the development of SMEs. This study will add to the existing literature on the topic of entrepreneurship ecosystems and will offer policy suggestions on how to empower the SME sector in UK.
